Placerita Canyon Nature Center officials and the Community Hiking Club members presented a Creepy Crawlies of the Natural World class Sunday.
“We want to try and show people that creepy crawlies are not really that scary,” said Paul Levine, who led the class. “They’re all around us. We have more insects around us than anything else. They’re very gorgeous.”
Levine showed the class that “creepy crawlies” are really very beautiful and nothing to be afraid of, he said.
“They’re all part of the natural ecosystem,” Levine said. “The insects know that we are bigger than them. They’re afraid of us and they want to get away. They’re more frightened of us than we are of them.”
The class got to learn about all kinds of insects, bugs and arachnids.
“If people would just look at (the insects), they would see phenomenal things,” Levine said
