City of Santa Clarita lifeguard instructors, Los Angeles County firefighters, and the American Heart Association will be at the event to train the junior lifeguards.

Junior lifeguards will learn valuable life-saving techniques, water safety, CPR and basic first aid skills by participating in swim workout, lifeguard shadowing, water rescue technique trainings and team-building competitions.

The training will begin at 9 a.m. on July 9.

Last year, more than 100 Santa Clarita Junior lifeguards participated in the program.

This CPR junior lifeguard training program teaches lifeguards how to be prepared for an emergency as well as being able to respond to an emergency.

Junior lifeguards will learn through hand-on, in-water demonstrations and water activities.
