The woman killed in a fatal traffic collision where the car crashed into a tree on Soledad Canyon Road this past weekend has been identified, according to Los Angeles County Department of Coroner officials.
Shirin Rashidian, 35, was the passenger killed when the Hyundai Sonata she was riding in crashed into a tree on Soledad Canyon Road near Rue Entree, according to Coroner’s officials and SCV Sheriff’s Station officials.
“We’re investigating possible driving under the influence and we’re also trying to find out the cause of why the car lost control in such a manner,” Cohen said.
The driver, a man in his 60’s is recovering at Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital, said Sgt. Richard Cohen with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station’s Traffic Division.
It has not been determined if the cause of the crash is DUI-related, Cohen said.
Around 8:50 p.m. Saturday, emergency responders received a report of a solo-vehicle roll-over on Soledad Canyon Road near Rue Entree in Santa Clarita, said Supervising Fire Dispatcher Michael Pittman.
No one witnessed the crash, said Sgt. Richard Cohen with the SCV Sheriff’s Station’s Traffic Division.
Rashidian died at the scene and a man, believed to be the driver and in his 60’s, was transported to Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital with possibly critical injuries, said Sgt. Brian Allen with the SCV Sheriff’s Station.
All lanes of Soledad Canyon Road have been reopened after all westbound lanes were shut down due to the collision Saturday night, Allen said.
