Coroner’s officials are continuing to work to notify the next of kin of the woman who was killed in a single-vehicle crash Friday afternoon.
Assistant Chief Ed Winter of the Los Angeles County Department of Coroner said officials have not been able to contact the woman’s next of kin and are searching for another relative to sign the next of kin notification.
The crash was reported at Sierra Highway near Scherzinger Lane at 3:10 p.m. Friday, according to officials with the Los Angeles County Fire Department’s Public Information Office.
A minivan crashed into a power pole, throwing personal belongings across the road.
An adult female was confirmed dead at the scene, said Detective Dan Finn with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
The woman’s name has not been released pending next of kin notification, but was confirmed as a 46-year-old female Caucasian, said Lt. Fred Corral of the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.
Both northbound and southbound lanes of Sierra Highway were closed as a result of the collision.
