Canyon Country Man Suspected Of Murder To Appear For Arraignment -- July 28, 2015

An alleged Canyon Country murder and shooting suspect who was arrested in New York last month has been extradited and is scheduled for an arraignment next month, District Attorney officials said Tuesday.

Michael Joe McGlothan, 51, of Santa Clarita, was arrested without incident Monday, June 1 at about 4 p.m. near a highway toll booth on the New York State Thruway in western New York, according to a statement from the police department’s Buffalo office.

McGlothan was arraigned in the Town of Dunkirk Court and taken to the Chautaugua County Jail before his extradition hearing, the statement said.

On May 6, McGlothan, also known as Michael Batiste, allegedly shot and killed Ledarion Allen Jr., 21, and the wounded of Allen’s girlfriend, Shatari Shene Cooks, who was treated for a gunshot wound at a local hospital.

The incident occurred in the 25700 block of Sierra Highway.

McGlothan is being held on $3,030,000 bail.
