The 2015 Santa Clarita Valley Man and Woman of the Year presented their donations to three nonprofits Wednesday in an on-air interview.
“This is money raised from the event that the Man and Woman of the Year can give to their specific charities,” Endress said.
The 2015 Santa Clarita Valley Man of the Year, Leon Worden, presented a $2,000 check to the Santa Clarita Valley Historical Society. SCV Historical Society President Alan Pollack received the check on behalf of nonprofit.
“I’ve been involved with the Santa Clarita Valley Historical Society for a number of years and honestly I have a lot of favorite charities because there is so much in this community that would not happen if it weren’t for our charities,” Worden said. “We’re a community built on charities.”
The 2015 Santa Clarita Valley Woman of the Year, Sue Endress, split her donation between the Santa Clarita Valley Senior Center, which she has been involved with for 35 years, and the Santa Clarita Valley Rotary Club, which she has been involved with for more than 10 years. Endress donated $1,000 to each charity. SCV Rotary Club President Lou Esbin and SCV Senior Center Director of Supportive Services Suzann Nelson received the checks on behalf of the charities.
Worden was nominated by the SCV Historical Society and Endress was nominated by the SCV Rotary Club.
“The real prize for Sue and for me is the fact that we get to organize next year’s Man and Woman of the year event,” Worden said.
“We’re very excited, very excited,” Endress added.
