Knight Honors Bowman Student In 2015 Congressional Art Competition -- May 27, 2015

Congressman Steve Knight recently honored a Bowman High School senior’s winning artwork in the 2015 Congressional Art Competition along with the owners of FastFrame of Valencia and KHTS AM-1220 for their continued participation.

Alex Farrell, a Bowman High School senior, will represent the 25th District in the 2015 Congressional Art Competition with his drawing of Abraham Lincoln.

“They’re going to put it up in the capitol building in Washington D.C.,” Farrell said in an on-air interview with KHTS AM-1220 DJ T-Katz. “It took me like a good five days. I’ve been drawing since I was young.”

Farrell will receive a complimentary flight to Washington D.C. where he will be able to attend the unveiling ceremony and see his artwork on display.

“I haven’t been to Washington D.C. so it’s going to be very exciting,” Farrell said.

The winners for the 2015 Congressional Art Competition were selected by Santa Clarita City Councilman Dante Acosta, who is Congressman Steve Knight’s field representative; FastFrame co-owners Randy Burzynski and Rose-Marie Longan; and KHTS co-owner Carl Goldman.

FastFrame Valencia has been sponsoring this event for more than seven years.

“This is a special event over here at FastFrame. This is a contest to try and find out all of our great artists here in the district and we have picked Alex Farrell to represent the 25th District,” Knight said. “He did a beautiful portrait of Abraham Lincoln and that will sit in the tunnels going through the capitol for the next year along with all of the winners from the other districts. Everyone gets to walk by there, it’s always neat to see a photo or sketch from the young people in your district.”

Farrell and the other students around the nation who have been selected as winners of the 2015 Congressional Art Competition are expected to have their art unveiled in the capitol this June.
