The SCV Child & Family Center is welcoming the community to its biggest fundraiser of the year, the 27th annual Taste of the Town in Santa Clarita, on Sunday.
The event is scheduled for Sunday, May 3 from 1-5 p.m. at the Mann Biomedical Park in Valencia.
The SCV Child & Family Center is a nonprofit organization that provides mental health, behavioral and education services to children, adults and families, according to the website.
“This is our premier fundraiser for the year,” said Cheryl Jones, vice president of Child and Family Center Foundation. “It brings in over $200,000 for the SCV Child & Family Center . The funds raised goes to providing services for our clients, to provide help for children, teens and adults who are facing behavioral or emotional challenges.”
Taste of the Town has 51 participating exhibitors including restaurants, caterers, beer and wine purveyors. Guests pay for a $75 ticket, and it includes an all-you-can sample experience.
This year, Taste of the Town officials are planning to offer a VIP experience where sponsors and VIP ticket holders are able to participate in a special reception, Jones said. VIP tickets cost $125 in advance only.
“VIP ticket holders are able to come in an hour early and receive two bottles of wine, appetizers, a cooking demonstration and throughout the day, they will have access to special wine and beer. They have a table with an umbrella,” Jones said. “This event just keeps growing every year.”
Along with 11 live auction items and 120 silent auction items, there will also be a chance to win a one karat diamond and a 15-day cruise to Hawaii.
“We’re so grateful for all of the continued community support,” Jones said. “The funds this event generates, the volunteers and the generosity of participating sponsors. As a community, it provides the necessary funds for children and their families that are hurting in this community.”
Last year was record-setting for the event with the live auction alone bringing in $41,500, officials said.
“I think in every category, attendees, sponsors, booths, everything, we set a record this year,” said Darrell Paulk, former CEO of the SCV Child & Family Center, in a previous interview. “It gets bigger and better every year. It’s just a fantastic event.”
Taste of the Town officials have garnered 53 sponsors from around the Santa Clarita Valley, and expect to have about 2,500 attendees Sunday.
