Santa Clarita Bail Bonds: Becoming A Bail Agent -- May 7, 2015

Have you ever thought about becoming a bail agent in the Santa Clarita Valley?

A bail agent is a person permitted to solicit, negotiate and effect undertakings of bail on behalf of any surety insurer, according to the California Bail Education textbook.

A California residency is required and applicants must be 18 years of age.

“Becoming a bail agent is a great job,” said Inessa Chavez, vice president of All American Bail Bonds in Santa Clarita. “It’s hard work to become one though.”

The prelicensing experience and education portion of the training consists of a minimum of 20 hours of approved prelicensing classroom study in subjects of laws, rights of the accused and ethics, according to the textbook.

An annual 6 hours of approved continued education is also required.

“All American Bail Bonds in Santa Clarita — It’s a great business to get into and provides a great deal of experience with people,” Chavez said. “Experience that you cannot get anywhere else.”

Bail agent applicants must also pass a written test administered by a Department of Insurance vendor, according to the textbook. There are also several fees that come along with the licensing process.

“At All American Bail Bonds in Santa Clarita, we take only the best bail agents,” Chavez said. “We have a lot of great people who are here to help you when you need it.”
