A Santa Clarita Valley make-up artist, business owner and writer of “It’s Not Over Yet!: Reclaiming your REAL BEAUTY POWER in your 40’s 50’s and Beyond” is planning to host a book signing event to help women reclaim their real beauty power.
Sally Van Swearingen released her novel in May 2014, is the owner of The A LIST Hair and Make-up Studioin Santa Clarita and has released her own line of cosmetics called “Studio Essentials.”
“It’s essential products that I’ve used as a studio make-up artist on camera,” Van Swearingen said. “How a woman can claim their beauty very easily and simply with studio make-up.”
Van Swearingen is planning to host a book signing from 7- 9 p.m. Friday Jan. 23 at the Valencia Barnes & Noble.
“Women going to be treated by make-up touch up by a studio makeup,” Van Swearingen said. “We’re going to be celebrating women there, so we’re just looking for everybody in Santa Clarita to come out to support the book signing, the book and the whole beauty power mindset.”
Attendees will be able to hear from former CNN Anchor Bella Shaw and author and stylist Lawrence Zarian. Attendees can also win a Beauty Power basket valued at $300.
“It’s about authentically capturing and reclaiming our beauty power,” Van Swearingen said. “Being your authentic self, feeling good about who you are, your real beauty and don’t be someone else’s beauty, be yourself.
“It’s important for me to say right off, I was one of those women. I had a daughter in my early 40’s and I had felt that I lost a lot of my own beauty power and being a studio makeup artist and working in Hollywood, working with brides and being around the pretty people all the time,
you do feel, at some point, invisible as you age. Some women allow that to happen and I’m telling them don’t do it. Reclaim it. That’s what the book really is.”
