Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station Capt. Roosevelt Johnson and Citizens for Chiquita Canyon Landfill Compliance officials are expected to meet and speak with attendees at the next Canyon Country Advisory Committee Meeting.
“Roosevelt is going to discuss some of the programs he has in place to keep the community safe. I’m sure he’ll talk about neighborhood zoning, zone leaders and some of the things he has instituted as well,” said CCAC Chair Alan Ferdman. “Citizens for Chiquita Canyon Landfill Compliance are going to come to explain to the Canyon Country folks just how large the landfill expansion is going to be and how close it’s going to be to Santa Clarita. The effects of landfill are not just on Val Verde but on Valencia as well.”
The meeting is planned for Wednesday, Jan. 21 from 7 p.m.to 9 p.m. at the Mint Canyon Moose Family Center Banquet Room at 18000 Sierra Highway, Canyon Country 91351.
The meeting is open to the public and free of charge.
Anywhere between 30-100 people attend the monthly meetings, Ferdman said.
“We take issues that come up or in some cases we have members that will suggest topics,” Ferdman said. “We invite different organizations to the meetings.”
