Santa Clarita Sheriff's Deputies Give Free Ice Cream To Safe Kids -- Sun, 09/07/2014 - 11:30am

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station deputies are planning to issue free ice cream tickets to kids wearing helmets this coming Monday.

The event is set to launch the city and Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station official's new Scoops for Safety campaign, according to the news release. Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station deputies will be on hand at Rosedell Elementary school to issue "tickets" for free ice cream to kids wearing helmets and other appropriate safety gear. 

The event is scheduled for 3 p.m. Sept. 8.

Throughout September, Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station Deputies will conduct a "Scoops for Safety" operation to issue ice cream coupons to kids and teens wearing helmets as required by California law, according to the news release. Each safety-equipped kid will receive a coupon for one free scoop of ice cream from Farrell's Ice Cream Parlour in Santa Clarita.

Sheriff's Station officials have partnered with the city of Santa Clarita, Farrell's Ice Cream Parlour and Rosedell Elementary officials to put on the "Scoops for Safety" event, according to the news release.

The "Scoops for Safety" operation is the culmination of the City and Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station's Bike Safety Campaign, launched in May 2014 to help reduce collisions and injuries among bikes, cars and pedestrians on Santa Clarita streets, according to the news release.
