Santa Clarita Sheriff's Deputies Investigate Several Burglar Reports - Tue, 07/15/2014 - 1:03pm

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station deputies responded to several calls about a burglar in a Canyon Country neighborhood Tuesday morning, officials say.

"A man was running through the neighborhood of Cardinal Drive this morning and broke into one house," said Deputy Josh Dubin, public information officer for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff Station. "Then he moved down the street to another house and attempted to break in but never made it. He then ran through two other home's backyards."

Deputies received reports of the incident at 6:50 a.m. and found a shattered sliding glass door at the first house.

Brandon Spencer, 22, of Canyon Country was arrested about 30 minutes after the initial report, said Dubin.

Spencer was arrested in Saugus on commercial burglary and assault with a deadly weapon charges on June 25.

"The investigation began after a report of a commercial burglary at a hobby store on the 25600 block of Bouquet Canyon Road," according to Sheriff’s Station arrest records. "Several Airsoft-style guns were stolen from the store after it closed, according to Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station Crime Prevention Unit deputies. Deputies then responded to reports of a man driving a Ford Explorer alone near the Valencia mall, shooting BBs at patrons in front of the TGI Friday’s restaurant there around 11 p.m."

Spencer caused minor injuries to six people in the June shooting spree and was held in lieu of $30,000 bail.

"We arrested the individual for residential burglary," said Dubin. "Deputies are also investigating him being possibly under the influence of narcotics and he is currently receiving medical treatment at a local area hospital."

The sliding glass door of the first house was shattered and deputies are still investigating the incident, including identifying any stolen items.

"Four different houses were disrupted," said Dubin. "Detectives and deputies are working together to investigate the case and see if there are any other related bulargies."

The investigation is ongoing as of 12:30 p.m. Tuesday.
